David Blake is Chairman and Co-Founder of Blake Newport Associates Ltd. David has acted as a sole Arbitrator under the UNCITRAL rules and as Adjudicator in several disputes referred to him by the RICS and CIArb. In addition he has acted as both a Delay & Quantum Expert witness on numerous of occasions in adjudication, arbitration, litigation and ADR proceedings.

David is a highly experienced Consultant, who has specialised both himself and his practice in the field of commercial management and dispute resolution on large construction, engineering and IT projects. He provides comprehensive knowledge and experience in the fields of litigation, arbitration, adjudication and mediation support services; the preparation of expert reports and opinions including giving oral expert evidence.

In a career spanning over 30 years, David has amassed extensive experience in commercial and dispute management techniques on major construction and engineering projects both the UK and overseas. These include preparation, negotiation and settlement of contentious final accounts / claims and preparation, defence, negotiation and settlement of loss and expense claims.

David has detailed knowledge of the main forms of contract used in the UK construction and engineering industry, including their associated sub-contract agreements.

Greg Brownlee

Managing Director

Greg Brownlee is Managing Director of Blake Newport. As well has heading up the Construction and Engineering Business Unit. Greg has extensive experience and expertise in the IT, Power (specifically Waste to Energy) and Process industries.

Greg is highly experienced in the formulation, assessment, negotiation and settlement of contractual claims; identification of risk in specific contracts and development of appropriate administrative procedures to avoid disputes and minimise client liabilities. He has significant experience in the field of commercial management and dispute resolution on large engineering and IT projects, particularly in the provision of adjudication support services in support of both claimants and respondents.

He has provided advice to companies and contractors on procurement of supplies and services, including assistance in development of bespoke Forms of Contract and management of PFI Schemes during both the pre and post-contract phases of projects.

Greg’s clients have included large IT outsourcing and telecommunications companies, public bodies, private construction and engineering companies and professional consultancies.

Richard Tench

Director

Richard Tench is a Director and co-founder of Blake Newport Associates Limited. He has over 30 years Commercial experience in a wide range of industry sectors including the IT Sector, the Heavy Engineering sectors, particularly power, transport and petro-chemicals, and also the mechanical, mining, civil and building industries.

Paul has over 20 years experience in providing strategic advice, commercial and contract management and dispute resolution services in the Technology and Outsourcing, and Construction and Engineering sectors. He has experience in providing the full range of commercial management services across the contract lifecycle on projects up to £3bn in value.

Simon McGrail is head of Construction, Engineering and Dispute Resolution for Blake Newport in the South and the Director responsible for the Blake Newport London office.

He is a highly experienced contract and commercial consultant with over 30 years’ experience – both nationally and internationally. Simon spent 10 years specialising in projects utilising the NEC suite of contracts for a number of large international clients. Simon was also a member of the 2001 Institution of Civil Engineers NEC Construction Management Working Party advising the NEC drafting panel on amendments to the NEC suite of Contracts when adopting a Construction Management procurement route.

Simon acts for national and multinational contractors and private developers advising on major PFI hospital projects, rail infrastructure upgrades and extensions and owner occupier capital investments undertaking commercial reviews of contract terms and conditions, final accounts, tender qualifications and resolution claims and disputes.
