The experience gained over many years working with clients involved in the construction of power stations has led to a wealth of understanding within the company. Our in-house experience has evolved with power generation development. Early work was undertaken on large coal burning power stations using multiple turbines and generators to supply thousands of megawatts of power to the national grid.

Our experience was further widened with the rush to build gas-fire power stations, we have been involved with the new generation, highly efficient, aero derivative gas turbine power stations. These have varied in configuration from simple to combined cycle with single or multiple turbines to generate the required wattage. These are generally used in industrial settings as backup supplies or on industrial estates as the prime supplier. As such the output is much lower than the larger coal burning power stations and is generally in the 50-60 MW range.

Recently we have been involved on many of the waste from energy power stations that are currently being constructed throughout the UK to assist in resolving the problems associated with the volume of waste being produced and the high taxes associated with landfill. These small power stations burn waste to generate steam to drive turbines and generate electricity. The waste used can be as diverse as old tyres, domestic waste or chicken litter.

This range of sizes, configurations and fuel type means the value of these projects varies greatly. The total value of the power stations worked on to date ranges from £30million to £1,000million. However, we believe the principles and techniques to be applied in a particular situation can be used whatever the size of the project.
