Another Successful Chairman's Golf Day

The Blake Newport Annual Golf Day was held on 26th July at Romanby Golf Club in North Yorkshire. The event was well attended by our clients from all over the UK and overseas, namely Ton-Inge Aas from CMA Contiki who flew in from Oslo. This year was the 10th anniversary of the event and our involvement with Romanby Golf Club.
It was a very successful event and everyone enjoyed the golf despite being harshly treated by the elements which endeavoured to dampen everyones spirits with torrential rain for two hours. After a damp 18 holes we adjourned in the club house for a drink and meal followed by the prize giving. The individual competition winners were:
1st place – Jim Hinchliffe – NG Bailey
2nd place – Chris Hutchinson – Hewletts
3rd place – Alan Cooper – Hewletts
The nearest the pin was won by Paul Giles – Hammonds.
The longest drive was won by John May – Freeth Cartwright.
And finally the team event was won with four tremendous rounds of golf in trying conditions by a mixed team comprising: Ian Browne – Honeywell, Alan Cooper – Hewletts, Paul Giles – Hammonds and Greg Brownlee – Blake Newport.
Ian accepted the prize on the team's behalf and agreed to defend the title next year when hopefully the weather will be much kinder to our guests. As a contingency we may have to consider having a white water rafting event instead…
