Blake Newport provides commercial management and dispute resolution services to major construction companies, specialist sub-contractors and client organisations throughout the UK and internationally.
Reporting to the Head of Construction and Dispute Resolution for the North West the role will be to provide consultancy services comprising:
• review and analysis of tender and contract documentation
• full commercial management of construction projects through to the agreement of the final account including the preparation of claims
• preparation of dispute referral, response and reply documents
• strategic advise at all stages of the construction lifecycle
The role requires well rounded commercial management experience with the ability to interpret and operate both standard form and bespoke contract procedures and mechanisms.
Candidate
Candidates must possess a degree in Quantity Surveying and a minimum of ten years experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager. The candidate must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of commercial procedures, the principles of contract law and the ability to prepare, assess and interrogate construction costs.
Ideally, candidates should be MRICS and have a working knowledge of dispute resolution procedures, Adjudication in particular, and have prepared or assisted in the preparation of referral or response documents, although this is not essential.
Assignments will usually be undertaken within the client organisation therefore candidates must have the ability to work independently, possess sufficient confidence and judgement to request help, guidance and advice when required and maintain the highest standard of discretion.
Most assignments will be managed from the Blake Newport Warrington office and undertaken in the North of England; however the requirement to travel and work away from home when necessary is essential.
Interviews
Candidates will be required to attend both a general and formal technical interview.
